My mind is boggled.

Rooster is a black Silkie, Hen is Cochin... off-spring does NOT have feathered feet.

Here is the dynamic of my second coop:

1 Roo - Black Silkie
1 Black Silkie Hen
1 Tan, White, Brown & Black Cochin
3 California White

Chick hatched this morning, cute as a button, like the others that hatched a few weeks back. However, she doesn’t have feathered feet! ———- How is this possible? It cannot be a Cali egg because this was not a white egg nor was it in their nesting box when I pulled. Regardless, my Silkie being the only Roo in there (my other Roos in the other coop have absolutely no access to this coop, they’re technically located in another area on our farm and they do not free range together due to differing breeds) the off-spring should have feathered feet since it is a dominant trait, regardless of who the Mom is.

I’ll post the feet of the same cross a few weeks back and I’ll post the current in question.
