No health care? Expect a requirement to get it

The problem isn't the uninsured costing everyone else money. Most people that are uninsured are uninsured not by choice. I can't get health insurance because I've had cancer previously. No one will carry me. Is that fair? Nope.
If it ever comes back, I'll be in a worse situation than I was.

Even if people that have insurance can get dropped or denied coverage because they are seriously ill. There are so many things that need to be fixed. Do I think national healthcare is an answer? Maybe not, I've been to other countries, I've seen how it works there.

I do think that insurance companies need to be overhauled in some way. I don't have the answer, but I do KNOW that our current system does not work, and if you get ill you're at the whim of an insurance company. It's wrong, and I hope we find an answer.

Even if the gov't decides to require you to purchase health care, it doesn't look like they're trying to tell you where you have to get it from.

When Hillary Clinton tried to introduce a universal health care bill into the senate - the lobbyist threw enough money around and made enough contributions to reelection funds that the bill was killed. The national insurance was going to be funded by taxes on things that cause health problems, such as an increased tax on tobacco.

Universal health care would destroy the health insurance market. Who knows how many billions of dollars those health insurance companies would lose.

But now, its being turned back on the people. Instead of getting free or low cost health coverage, we are going to be forced to buy at a premium rate. This is going to bring untold fortunes to those companies that opposed universal free health coverage.

Requiring people to buy health insurance is a way to ensure future profits and sales for the companies that sell insurance.

I have Medicare and Medicaid for me and my family, after i lost my job six years ago and hubby's employer offers insurance but such a high price for a simple care, no ER, no hospital stays, no major surgery such as heart or eye surgery, it was best for us to go to Medicaid and pay some office visits, non payable stuff like vision and dental care and co payments each month on premiums and co pays on RX.

Does it need an overhaul? You bet it does!

We need to have single payer not for profit health care. Contrary to some of the myths floated by the big insurance companies it works quite well. The best way to pay would be through increased income taxes at all levels. Right now I pay 500 a month for my family. My employer pays the additional 780. Those fees could be eliminated and I would pay an equivalent in additional income tax That's how they do it in other civilized countries and it works. Everybody would pay different rates based on their ability. If you are wealthy there is always a private hospital out there for you. When the CEO of United Health Care makes 1billion dollars a year salary that should tell even the dimmest people that something is wrong. The current system is just another corporate boondogle. Paying executives at the top much more than they are worth while underpaying the medical community and forcing them to submit reams of paperwork to get reimbursed. Single payer would be much more efficient and cost effective. Health records would be centralized instead of spread all over to every doctor and specialist you ever went to.

Single payer will never get passed though. Too many lobbyists and people scaring the general public. Instead what we'll get is some watered down useless plan that will cost more for everyone and not do what is needed.
