Oh I am so sorry, Lori. You have sure had your share of sorrows this summer with your birds. Poor sweet Luna....

The tissue that was prolapsed was prolabaly no longer viable... sorry you are faced with this difficult task and have to lose your bird :aww
For future reference please read through my collected (veterinary) info on prolapse etc. .... I have recently included a couple very informative videos (summarizing the info in the articles basically> she also describes the procedure you and Robin have done to get the egg out)) which are very helpful ... next time (unfortunately there will probably be one) use KYgel as a lubricant instead of vaseline... and add a scalpel and some sutures to your emergency kit (a link to sources for sutures and suturing info in the second link)

OK it's done, harder and easier than I thought. She let me place her head on the board and didn't fight me at all

one swing and it was over. her body flapped for a few minutes, then that was it. I stayed calm, praying the whole time, then buried her and THEN fell apart. I'm so glad she's not suffering anymore, I hate that she's gone though! my husband actually swung the axe....I wanted to, but I'm glad he did. I just don't have any experience with a hatchet....I wanted it to be as easy as possible on her. I know now that I could (will be able to)
do it next time. Thanks again for all the help.

poor girl, sorely missed. She was my talker, never stopped clucking when she saw me. thank you all for all the support!

Sorry to hear this sad news, but glad she had you for her caregiver. She was a lucky to have someone to look out for her and help her on her next journey.
