Ok so we have a broody. Not really sure on the exact date she started sitting. But we are in the 3 week window. Last year we didn’t have any that hatched and I’m starting to think we are going to have the same issue this year. My plan was to wait till this coming weekend to see if any hatch then go from there. If none do what should be my next step? I know I’m going to need to remove the eggs but is there any way I can tell what went wrong? Sorry if this is an overly silly question still new to all this

Well, if you're up for it, you can open the eggs to see what stage they quit at.

If none hatch, you can candle the eggs to see what went wrong

Since you don't know the exact date, I would wait. The broody will leave when no eggs hatch.
A silly question but I have a friend that didn't have a rooster so she didn't have any eggs hatch after incubating them... do you have a rooster to fertilize the eggs?

I had a broody when I had my rooster and it was very strange that as broody as she was she never was successful hatching anything.

Yup we have a rooster. I quickly candled 4 eggs the other night 1 was not fertilized but the other 3 were. I know she is sitting in at least a dozen more but being this far along I didn’t want to disturb her much so left them alone.

also last year we had a broody that sat for 2 months straight without hatching. That’s kinda why I’m not sure what to do. But I do know that it will be at least 3 weeks this coming Tuesday for sure.
