I used the Nutrena chicks starter medicated feed and they are happy and healthy. It has Amprolium as the drug ingredient and that is ok for ducks to eat. I even email the company to make sure and they told me yes it is ok.
There should be a tag attacked to the bottom of the bag and it gives all of the nutritional values and ingredients. If it doesn't have one or say anything on the bag then email the company.
BTW, he is out now - a neighbor lifted the duck out while I opened the 'bator lid. It was open for less than 2 seconds and I have seen zipping since then, so I hope to still have a successful hatch.
'Nother question, this time a weird one. In comparison to chicks, do ducklings feel a lot softer, or mushier, in the tummy area? Maybe just more noticeable because they are larger?
It does have a tag, but it lists a lot of ingredients and I do not know which one is the coccidiostat. A few are copper sulfate, methiohine, and avatec premix active ingredient las__ocid (cannot read the word as the paper is torn) sodium.
If it is medicated then it should have "Active Drug Ingredient" printed then the actual drug name and the % that is in the feed. Check for something like that. What brand of feed is it?
Mine has
ACTIVE DRUG INGREDIENT
