No more eggs for our neighbors

Dogs that
bark all day long are useless, have ignorant, inconsiderate owners,
and should be shot.

I think the owners should be shot. They are the ones that don't train, care for or pay any attention to those useless yapping dogs.

I kind of agree with you even though I do get annoyed at times with not only my dogs but the neighorhood dogs. I don't like dogs that bark all day (or night) though. That is just annoying and is irresponsible.

When the neighbor dogs bark at night I know there is a predator - animal or human - around that shouldn't be there because our neighbors are very on top of their barking dogs normally. When my dogs bark during the day, it keeps out the neighborhood cats and anything else that may stray into the yard and tells me something is going wrong outside.

So yes, I can see both points of view

With my Chocolate Lab he has 3 different barks.
1 playfull
2 Someone he doesn't know is here.
3 Predator ( fox, coyote, skunk, possum, Snake)
He loves to guard his chickens, even growls at my rooster Bluie if he's rough on the girls lol

My dog only barks if something is 1) someone pulls in the driveway we don't know, 2) an animal is moving around outside- she's very territorial and even chases dogs away when she's in full heat, 3) if my boys are outside and anybody comes near them, and 4) if someone comes to the door. In every case, I hear her bark, then check it out and tell her it's ok and she stops barking immediately. It's the way it works. I am glad I have a dog that can sound an alarm and be protective, but I wouldn't tolerate for a second a dog that barked its head off all day just because it could. It's a working relationship- she barks, I check, let her know it's ok, and she quits.

I don't understand the mentality of people who can listen to their own dog go on and on all day and all night.

Purple chicken...your right about the ignorant/inconsiderate owners. The dogs are prob bored to death and need attention. IMHO it's the owners who should be....well....maybe not "shot" but wounded! They should give the dogs to someone who has time for them. I can't stand when people get dogs just to leave them tied outdoors!

That works too.

My dog (border collie/lab mix), barks when something is outside, or when she THINKS something is outside, or when there is a funny noise on tv... like a whistle, or another dog. Most dogs bark only when they perceive a threat or possible change in their territory... You should talk to your neighbors, and ask if maybe they can keep their dogs inside at night, but be kind and understanding, because they are unlikely to move away, so you're going to be dealing with them for a long, long time to come... and in reference to the dramamine comment, "Dramamine, or Benadryl will give them (and you) a good nights sleep. ", is that for the dogs or the people?
