So I read somewhere you shouldn’t have 2 more of each breed. Is their truth to this?
Cause if so I out numbered my girls.
I’ll have 4 barred rocks and 4 Americanas.
and after that everyone is spilt in pairs.

What you said that you have read is false. Have as many as you like. I do love that chicken math!

You can pretty much have whatever combo of breeds you want. Only caution would be having a lot of birds from breeds known to be possibly more aggressive (i.e. RIRs) and then only 1 or 2 birds from breeds known to be more passive (i.e. Faverolles, Silkies), as the docile birds could get heavily bullied by the others.

It's often interesting if you have a link to something like that so I can read it in context. You just never know where they are coming from. But plenty of us have flocks where we have only one of a breed. Even more have flocks where we have several of a certain breed. From what you posted, no, there is no reason to stop at two of a breed.
