No more twinkies

The only Hostess product that I consider irreplaceable is their coffee cakes...oh man are they good. They sell them under the Hostess lable and also under the Dolly Madison lable. They are so good with the PERFECT crumbly mix of sugar, brown sugar, cinnamon on top. Everyone else's coffee cakes have this weird tasteless pellet looking stuff on top masquerading as topping...lol... I sure hope some other company figures it out and picks up where Hostess left off!

don't be too upset. here is an article on how to make your own hostess cupcakes

Homemade Hostess Cupcakes

By Passionatpl8 | Posted November 16, 2012 | Seattle, Washington

CNN PRODUCER NOTE Passionatpl8 says after her friend Mary made homemade Hostess cupcakes over the summer to honor her dad on Father's Day and posted it on their food blog , she felt inspired to share the recipe. "It seemed so timely to share this will all the Hostess lovers today so they are not so sad about the impending doom," she says. Though she is a lover of Hostess cupcakes, she says she almost prefers the homemade version. "The cupcake is so moist and rich and chocolate-y, but it's the marshmallow filling that really makes this delicious!" she says. "In these tough times, with so much uncertainty in the world, we find ourselves comforted by simple things like the snack foods of our childhood."
- Anika3, CNN iReport producer

YYou left out the most important ingredient... union worker...

Yeah, the entire thing was stupid. Union workers: "WE DON'T WANT A PAY CUT!" Hostess: "M'kay, if that's how it's gonna be, we're going to go out of business." UW: "YAY! We didn't get the pay cut! And now we don't get paid at all... Um, guys, maybe we should rethink this."
Management gave themselves a $7.5 Million pay raise just before going bankrupt... then blamed the unions for wanting to much money...

Well, it wasn't as if the company was in such great shape in any event. They filed for bankruptcy in 2004 and again in 2011 and my guess is that liquidation was just around the corner regardless of the unions. Having said that it sue seems that the union more was a useless act and probably plain dumb
Every time they filed they gave management a bonus for "saving the company"...

Sounds like something Romney would do...

Sugar is cheaper in Mexico so I am guessing they will move production there... so is labor. I do wonder if the positions lost were not minimum wage positions really anyhow and it was long overdue.

No, they probably can't get bread to New York in a day, but they can put enough preservatives into it so that you can probably eat it sometime in the next century.
