Hi! This morning I woke up to find that one of my Silkie eggs had finally pipped! Today is day 21. I haven’t seen any movement at all coming from the chick inside and I have no idea when it actually pipped. I haven’t heard any chirping either. Should I be worried about it? The humidity is a little lower than I would like but I don’t want to open it and accidentally shrink wrap the chick.

I have tried tapping and making little chirping noises but nothing has happened

Give Them Some Time If They Have Started Pipping It Could Take 12-24 Hours To Start Zipping. And What Kind Of Incubator Are You Using, Mine Has A Red Plug In The Top That I Can Open & Add Water Without Dropping Humidity.

I am using one where you have to open it to add water. Probably not the best choice

Any Progress On The Eggs? And I Wouldn't Worry Too Much About Movement , I Just Finished A Hatch Of Goose Eggs , They Moved Quite A Bit A Few Days Before Hatch, Then Stopped , Then Started Again...

I feel like I can see the pip getting a little bigger and I did hear some chirps. I was able to get the humidity up without opening the incubator. We brought a humidifier into the room it’s in and now the humidity is 69-70%

The chick didn’t make so much a pip as a tiny crack in the egg. I am worried she can’t breathe.
