No one has messed with my chickens until today

Am still building coop and run but once it is complete I plan to have key-alike padlocks on all the doors. Yes, you have to lock and unlock everytime but it is worth it when you are gone all day at work and can't keep an eye on things. I am more concerned about the roaming dogs then roaming kids, which is why I am taking my time and making sure that I have made everything as preditor proof as I can make it.

Locks are cheap and easy security.

Oh my! Yikes!!!!! I don't like people in the chicken tractors.....It's hard enough for me to go inside when I need to....I don't want folks tromping with dirty feet and touching the hens/rooster/eggs......I would have flipped!!!!!

Not trying to "hijack this thread" but I'll never forget last easter time, when I was coming back from milking and there was a rustling sound outside the goat barn....It was almost dark...And I was looking around for a large stick to whack at a predator....Happily I didn't find one..It was a man who wanted to know if we still had bunnies for sale! Okay, our front gate was locked.....Hubby was home happily and I could barely see 2 feet ahead of me as the darkness was really coming in..... Well, he did end up buying 4 bunnies but I told him, never ever ever do that again, because we have guard dogs and in about another minute I would have called them. I cannot imagine vaulting a fence to "get bunnies" or doing anything unless it was to put out a fire in a burning house or something. Well this was a man with a total family with him in a nice car.....and well groomed and probably educated in school but not the ways of the country... Strange...Lockedhearts so sorry you went through this...hope everything settles down!

Koda would chop someone in half before letting anyone into my coop if she sensed they had bad intentions. Besided my RIR roo is very protective of his hens so he would attack anything that tried to go after his hens if he didn't know them. I think I'm going to make a couple signs warning about my dog and my rooster.

You did right. I would've yelled at the dang kid myself. When I was five I was on my neighbor's land without permission and well he told me to go home. I haven't been back on his land except when he said I could pick some apples and pears to can.
