I know how you feel. I started a thread too called "Help for the Newbies". I have a few answers and who knows where it will lead..... Anyway I just wanted to say Hi and that you are not alone. I'm quite new to this and have just acquired a bran new ever first chicken (Silkie). I have posted pictures and you can find these on my thread. I live in Brisbane/Queensland/Australia and we are in our summer at present - very hot and muggy. It has been raining quite a bit and we were all concerned here that we may flood again like last year.

I noticed you are online, so I wanted you to receive this message to encourage you and yes people from everywhere are looking.

Ya im not alone! LOL. I'm surprised my thread has gone this far, but since em has posted it will end soon *sigh* Em stops all threads. MEAN EM!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! I kinda thought since you said g'day you were from aussie. i have 2 friends in aussie. What color is your silkie? i had a splash one with not only 5 toes, 6 toenails!!!!! CREEPY!!! like on the 5th toe (or was it the 4th toe?) well anyway there was a regular toenail then one growing out the back. She was sweet though, i loved her!
 
That link doesn't work for me, and I know next to nothing about chickens. My condolences on your loss though.
