.....I brought an inverter for just this type of situation as I used to live where power would go out frequently during the winter.

Inverters are not really too expensive.... I think mine is 300 watts and it cost $39 as I recall.

I used a few times to save eggs and chicks..... just used batteries in our cars.

I've also used it with my curling iron when camping and getting ready for work when we had a power outage.

Mine can be attached directly to a battery (battery cable clips) and can also be plugged directly into a cigarette lighter.

Yes! no power days always had their advantages!!! no vacuuming, no laundry, ....maybe even go out for dinner or ask "Honey" to barbque!!

We will get an inverter for next time.
We also have a fireplace so will have a warm spot if need
be. Now they are in the garage in their pen with the heat lamp
on and thermostat reads 75 degrees. we have just enough power
to flush and keep the frig on and their lamp! thanks!
