Right, here goes:

So, as you can see, we have an aviary in 2 parts with a passage round the back between the 2, the floor is dirt with wire mesh underneath, there are big chunks of log everywhere (they are bay logs - I read that they're not poisonous, and the quail don't really do much with them except sit on them anyway). The hut is water and draft proof, and there are little tunnel things in the other half as hiding places, and the terracotta dish behind the hut is the sand dish which they love to bath in. There are little grass plants in the corners, which are pretty much dead due to quail sitting on them, and there are grass plants planted around the outside of the aviary to make them feel a bit more secure. Since the photos were taken we added a roof tile (one of the half pipe shaped ones) which makes another tunnel for them. They seem pretty happy :)

Very nice looks very comfortable for them and it looks like a good natural pen for them.

We aim for natural, because I'd like to convince them to sit on eggs! As far as I've read, it's most likely if they're in natural settings with cover and grass around and everything. Still not holding my breath mind you XD I love watching them acting natural, it's really interesting watching them interact. We have a lot of Red Kites in the area (bird of prey) and when they fly over the male sends up an alarm and the aviary goes silent, the hens all crouch and stare up, it's so interesting.
