No roof top on chicken and duck run?

I wondering how concerned I should be for the ducks and chickens if I didn't have a top on my coop run. I currently have one on both using the plastic bird/deer netting but with all the snow and heavy winds it just keeps getting destroyed and ruined. I'm considering just taking it all off. I'm not sure how much concern predators are and if there is something I can use to keep them away or a lighter form of netting I can use? My runs are very large.

I don't know what you consider large, as far as a run goes. But my run, is an area surrounded by 650' of electrified poultry net, and there is no cover. Inside this area, my birds have some brushy places, and the coop itself to hide in/under.
