Hello everyone, I found an egg in the chicken coop that had no shell and I wondered if there was a problem with the hen or it just needed some more calcium. HELP?? Thanks!!

Just a glitch in the system often caused by stress, not a calcium problem. It's often seen in New layers or those starting or shutting down.

Also. what do you mean by "shutting down" or you talking about the bird dying or just stop producing eggs? Thanks so much!!

In the fall at the end of the laying season before the have an adult molt. They take a few months off during it so the reproductive tract goes out of business for a while and they stop laying.
