No Shell on the Egg

I have 5 chickens... one 2 year old Americana (she lays blue-green eggs every other day)... one young rooster... and three pullets (one is about 5 months old, the other 2 are about 4 months old). I am waiting for the 3 pullets to start laying.

Today my son found an egg that I'm assuming had no shell... it was totally transparent like was cloudy cream water balloon or something.

Is the egg most likely a first egg from one of my pullets? or did my Americana lay a bad egg? What do I do if we keep getting rubbery eggs? And... how do I figure out which chicken laid this egg?

Thanks

P.S. I've only had chickens for a month and a half (we got the 2 year old from someone else). I am still learning A LOT.

I'm definitely not an expert on this subject as I just got my first egg today, but I know this question will come up anyway. Are you providing a source of calcium (oyster shells)? I've read this can often be an issue.

I agree with the other posts. I have a dish of free choice oyster shells by my birds feed. They will take what the want or need. Also soft or shell-less eggs aren't uncommon for first time layers.

This is the fourth post tonight I have read about shelless eggs. Could it be the heat as well, seeing that it seems to be really hot over there at the moment - bloody freezing here
