No sign of any winter change!

My girls are in their first year of laying, I was getting usually 10 eggs a day from 12 girls, now I am getting 4-5, I have 2 in a mild molt...I add no light, I want them to have a break. The only hen I have that has laid every single day..is my California White, never fail...always a white egg from her! I have 3 EE's 30 weeks, waiting for the first green egg, it may not be till spring now though...

We have four girls. 1 Americana, 1 Dominique, and 2 Jersey Giants. The Americana and the Dominique are still laying (slowed down a bit). But the Jersey's have totally stopped! One of the Jerseys is molting on her neck, so funny looking! They are all about 10 months old. How long do they molt? When can I expect them to begin laying again?
Another question (rather gross, sorry) the Americana seems to have regular problems with "personal hygiene" She will have lots of poop hanging off the back side of her feathers, I have cleaned her of a couple of times, it isn't "poop butt" as she is still pooping and laying. Anyone else have this problem? Should I be worried or is she just a messy girl?

In my experience, when a 8, 9, 10 month old pullet molts it's a sort of mini-molt and over quicker than a full blown adult molt. How long it will take to complete is anybody's guess. I've found that upping the amount of protein they get (in the form of high protein treats) helps.

I would check your poopy butt girl's droppings closely for worms. I have one girl that is like that; she's nearly 4 years old and has always had a problem with keeping her bottom clean. I dunno, sometimes I think an individual will have a problem with the whole squat to poop thing.

If it's not worms and it continues to happen, try trimming the feathers around her vent on a regular basis to help her stay clean.​

My five barred rocks have dropped to 0-2 eggs per day (mostly one per day) from the 3-4 I was getting during summer/fall. They all hatched the same day. I've definitely seen a slow-down.

out of 15 chickens 2 are in moult, 13 are in there first year. I had 9 that were laying before Christmas I think 2 more started to lay this week and they last two should start soon. I get 6 or more eggs a day at this time and the days are now starting to get longer.

My reds are still laying no problem. I'm getting three everyday. Now I think only one of my Dekalb is laying everyday. However four out of five daily is cool by me. If you want a nice huge, hearty egg, the Dekalb Amberlink will not disappoint.
