folgerrd: A very old thread of mine, where people would sign up and kind of go up against each other to try gain more posts in as little time as possible.

Ahh, I see. So, say, if you and I went up against each other: would it be we had to get posters unsuspectingly(like a real topic) or just say "it's me against ______ post below if you vote for me."?

Well, it was more that we'd give all the participants a "target post count" (maybe 200 or 300 up from their current one) and whoever reached their target first won. No rules as to how the posts were obtained. Greeting, number counting, whatever.
