Welcome!! I'm so happy you are enjoying your girlsWe have a three year old and two high ranking dogs, I had to laugh when I read that! I'm just throwing this out there in case you didn't get your chick yet-you might want to consider getting two. I've heard on here and on other sites that adding one chick is really tough. We integrated two last year when our originals were only a few weeks older and I was happy the two littles had each other, as the "big" girls weren't mean, but it took a while for them to be fully welcomed into the cool kids club.
Yay! Nice to meet you! Fun post!! I want to see the chicken sharing food with the dog![]()
Sounds like you are doing a great job with her!!Thank you! It's a rescue hen about the same age. I tried to get another from her old flock, but I guess they all picked on her too much and she wasn't able to make friends. She's doing pretty well. We've done a really slow introduction to my girls and so far the pecking order banter has been minimal. She'll be going in the coop this weekend and I think it should be fine. I just really don't want her to get beat up again and she's soooooo shy and timid.
Oh! And while the dog hasn't earned her trust yet, he sure is faithfully trying! He spends hours just laying within eyesight of her - he's got that border collie focus - it's impressive.
