Nocturnal Visitor

They are out in numbers the last few weeks. We call them the "Roosters of the Night". Calling back and forth, super loud. Almost singing. Scores of them. We live in the boonies.
That's cool. It's been months since we have heard or seen an owl. We have seen them in our trees and on our silo in summer, but too cold here to linger outside to listen at night. So cool.

Great pics! Beautiful bird. We have a pair of Great Horned Owls living in our grove. When we have the windows open at night, we can hear them calling back and forth to each other. My chickens can't roost in the trees because of them. Many years ago, I had a flock that wouldn't use the coop - they roosted in the trees. Then I started finding headless chicken bodies under the trees. My GHOs had discovered them. Needless to say, from then on my chickens have slept in coops.
