I'm trying to put together some kind of chart listing the relative noise level of different duck breeds. If anyone could answer it would help! (if anyone has multiple breeds and can compare the noise for me that would be great!)

What breed(s) of duck do you have? Are they males or females?

On a scale of 1-10 (ten being the loudest), how loud can your duck get?

On a scale of 1-10 (ten being constantly) how often does your duck quack?

Thanks everyone!

I have calls and rouens. Both sexes of both breeds. The rouens are pretty quiet - I'd give the drake 1 on the loud scale and the duck 5. On quacking consistency I'd give the rouens a 3. Usually only hear them if the duck is looking for the drake.

The call drakes score pretty low on the loud scale also - maybe a 3. The ducks are another story! I'd have to score them about a 9 or 10. The good thing is they only quack when they see us out. It's kinda like - "hey you, come over and give us..."

thank you guys! this is very helpful. It helps out emensely!

Can anyone fill me in on:

swedishs,
cayuga,
anconas (sp?),
Magpies, C
ampbells,
runners (I knwo i have runners, but i'd lie to see what other people think too.)
hookbills,
pekins,
saxony's,
black east indies,
muscovies
buff ducks?

I have rouens, pekins, and cayugas. The pekins by far are the loudest of all three breeds.
All drakes are considered 'quiet' compared to ducks btw.

Pekin:
Duck:
10+ for loudness, 6 for frequency (usually when they want something)
Drakes: The most talkative of all the drakes I have, but still pretty quiet compared to the pekin ducks.

Rouen:
Duck:
If she didn't have the female coloring, I would think she were a drake. I have never heard her quack.
Drake: Not as talkative as the pekin drake, but still pretty chattery.

Cayuga:
Duck:
I have never heard this one quack either, though I do know she is a 'she'.
Drake: I have not noticed this one making much of any sound.

I think part of my problem is that the pekins are soooooooo loud, they drowned everyone else out! Either that, or the others don't feel the need to tell me they're hungry, since the pekins feel the need to tell the world!

Hope this helps!

ETA: I have two pair of pekins, one pair of cayuga, one pair of rouen, and two extra rouen drakes, if that makes a difference?

Hi! I have muscovies - they both just sort of whisper- very seldom Quack -only if something is chasing it or they are picking on each other. I believe the muscovy is one of the most quiet ducks around.
I'ld give both a 1 on both questions

I have 1 male-3 yrs, 4 females- 2 & 3 years and 3 at 5 months- 1 male, 2 female.

I have wood ducks. On a scale of 1 to 10, they would be a 0! Very small voices. When I first got them and had them in the house, they would answer the kittens. Once in a while, they will make little noises but you have to be listening for it.

I have woodducks, rouens,muscovys,crested,khaki cambell.

The woodducks just sort of whistle. Very little noisy.

The rouens some of mine are noiser than others. Porbley a 3-5.

The khaki cambell is pretty much very quiet. Probley a 2.

The crested is also overall quiet. SHe is probley a 3-4.

The muscovys the females just sort of mummble, make soft quacking/whislting sounds. The male hiss and males a louder sound then the female but hey are still a 1.

I have a male runner and he is very quiet probley a 1.

I also have a snowy call duck and it is very quiet probely a 1 also.
