Hi there! I have 5 pullets (12 weeks old) that have this habit of talking to me nonstop when it’s evening and they are in the process of roosting for the night. I’m taking it as though they just love me (lol), but seriously, what is all the talking at bedtime about?

My 6 girls do the same thing....when they have gone into the coop at dusk I go out to check on everyone and lock up. of course while doing so I'm talking to them making sure they know how much I love them and they are just a gaggle of chatty cathy's :lau. as wyorp rock says they are probably just talking to each other.......but I think they are really just saying good night to me:love. I don't really notice all the chatting as I'm walking up to the coop so maybe they really are just talking back to me. I'm ok with that line of thinking as long as they are :plbb :wee

We will be adding solar power later in summer so I plan on the camera.....my hubby thinks im crazy :celebrate

is there ever a time they aren't making noises? do they do it in their sleep too?
Yes, sometimes they are quiet. Especially if someone alerts-everybody freezes!
I have heard what sounds like possible snoring.
I've had a chick that sang like a songbird - I thought a wild bird somehow got in the coop, but closer inspection and listening, yep...it was her! Sadly, they outgrow the singing, but it was fascinating while it lasted.

Not crazy at all! My cameras are old and I think dust has killed the speakers, but I still use them to monitor my run and coop during the day. Makes roosting time easy to have a head count too.
