A few days ago I noticed one of our pullets was breathing noisily (inhaling and exhaling). She was hungry but the other chickens were pecking her to keep her away.

Thankfully I had some leftover Enrotril syrup that was only a month old, prescribed for a bird that died of a staph infection (as far as I have been able to find out, veterinary antibiotics are only available by prescription here in Australia).

The pullet was separated from the flock immediately and given 0.3 mL Enrotril syrup, twice daily then daily.
The next morning the breathing was normal. She was very active, flapping vigorously and complaining loudly when handled, with a good appetite.

I think I caught it early enough, and have released her back into the flock, after 3 days in the box. She seems fine today. No other chickens are affected.

She’s no beauty but I hope she’s ok!

I agree, she is very pretty.

I have a noisy breather because she keeps blocking her nostrils. Then she huffs and puffs. It can last months and isn't easy to clear. I can tell because as she breathes, her skin around her head (beak area and side of face) swells out as she breathes. Could it be that?

Thank you! Her mother is a lavender araucana and I’m not sure who the father is - possibly Pekin cross.
There was no discharge from her nostrils and the skin wasn’t puffing out. Whatever it was, I think she’s over it.
