Noisy chick

Hmmm I will have to let her know. I think my step kids said the chicks get out all the time. Are they old enough to know to go back in the box if they are cold?
Yes, try not to let them get out. They can probably fly now and will try to get free, however, this may make them cold and noisy.

If I were you I would simply place chicken wire over the box to keep them from getting out. Have lukewarm water for them to drink, make sure it is in a shallow dish. Have plenty of healthy food available for them. You could also try giving them some treats... also make sure to have straw covering the bottom of their box, and a heat lamp on them during the night, and a little farther away during the day, (farther away so they aren’t too hot.)

Your chicks could easily be being loud because they want more space. Don’t move them into a bigger coop yet, wait till they are at least 6 weeks old.

You could also try moving them outside for about 5 minutes as long as where you are is warm. Then they can spread out for a short while and walk about. This will help to get them used to outside, and they will enjoy scratching around. In a box they can’t really scratch around for anything, i recommend introducing them to the outside world for about 5 or less minutes a day. Just keep them happy and healthy and hopefully they will be less noisy!

Dont forget to always check their vents for pasty butt. If they have it you will notice dried poo on their feathers. Get a shallow dish and fill it with warm water. Place them in it and with a damp towel clear their vent. As they are chicks they may get this more often. Make sure to notice any different behavior such as wheezing, sneezing, chirping more often, walking differently, eyes closing, dozing off, and more. Good luck!
