Have you ever raised the red meat maker before? I have done the KK but was told these get bigger. My KK averaged 5 lbs dressed at about 12 weeks old.

Well we'll see, no I have never raised any meat birds at all before, they will be processed at 11 weeks (June 8) so we can compare!

How much were they per chick? And total order w/shipping?

They were 1.10 for st run, 0.75 for males (50 qty) they are cheaper at 100+ and more expensive under 50. Shipping was like $15 I think. I got 10 st run and 40 males so it came to ~$67 for a grand total of $1.35 per chick.

Thanks! I'll be doing more meaties in the fall and will be following your thread with interest to see how yours finished out, what you fed, how you fed and the general carcass review if you plan to do one.

sure! so far I've fed 22% protein, which soon will back off to 18%. I want to get a rough feed conversion- i have heard/read these guys are around 4 so just want to confirm that. Nolls also has a production strain of RIR which I have not bought, but just FYI.
