Non Aggressive Breeds

Hi, I have a Buff, a Barred Rock and a RIR. My RIR is brutality attacking the Buff to the point after trying everything I am rehoming her to a good friend. The Buff and the Barred Rock get along wonderfully. I would like to try to get more chicks. Only about 3. What other breeds are as docile as my Buff? She's my sweetheart. Her name is Clarabelle.

Ameraucanas are the sweetest of all mine. Don't get Columbian Rocks, they love to be the boss though aren't usually aggressive, but can be, especially the rooster.

In general, production reds are difficult, and I don't ever have them here. Easter Eggers (hatchery Ameracaunas), Sussex, Welsummers, Chanteclers, Jersey Giants; there are so many nice chickens! Look at Henderson's breed chart, and feathersite.com. and get too mant ideas! Favorelles tend to be too mild and mellow, so a problem in the other direction. I liked my buff Plymouth Rock hens too. You already know your Buff & BR get along; why not try more of the same? Regardless of breed there's no guarantee they'll get along. But as I understand it, Buffs & BRs have similar mannerisms.

It's fun to have a variety though, especially when starting out. You will like some and not others (already happened!) and develop interests. Mary
