Non Ameraucana/Araucana Blue-Eggers

I am breeding EEs with Orpingtons, Wyandottes, and possibly Silkies with a goal of creating a dual perpose, cushion combed, bearded and non bearded, blue egg laying, breed.

The Holland is an American breed and one I considered, but in doing a bit of research I think I would have just as much luck with the Cuckoo Dorkings from Sand Hill. They will be far meatier and larger than the hatchery Hollands available, and I will have as much chance of getting a white egg from them, sine it seems many of the hatchery Hollands are throwing tinted eggs (and small, and sporadically, to boot.) I'm not interested in rescuing the Holland first, in order to start my project.

The Legbar and most other UK Autosexing breeds from the post-WWII autosexing craze were indeed created with the Barred Rock.

I found the Greenfire blog on Legbar to be an excellent history: http://greenfirefarms.com/2011/01/a-new-years-revolution/

How do you plan on breeding out the green to get back to a blue egg? I would love to have more options of heavy breeds.

My Silkies lay very light colored eggs.
