I purchased 6 hens in April of this year. One turned out to be a rooster. Has anyone had any luck with the rooster non crow collar. I hate to have to give him up. My neighbor offered to kill him for me today. He’s crowed 4 times now. He’s a 4 month light Brahma.

Please don't use those. They are cruel. They push the feathers in very uncomfortable positions that poke them constantly. They can be surgically de-crowed. I had two done. They still "crow" but it is more like a whisper.

I have roosters with crow collars who are doing just fine. Their crows are softer than the hens' clucking and much softer than egg song!. I know there are a lot of people on this site who will insist this is inhumane. I disagree. My roos are happy, they eat well (very well), they mount the hens and run around and do all things they did before the collars, except one: they do not crow loudly.

Try it. You might find it solves your problem. It did mine.
