Non-Emergency: Is my chicken blind in one eye?

When we picked out our chicks at the store, my heart went out to this one because it "only had one eye". I named her One Eye Willie, and she's been the sweetest chicken we have. A few days or so after we gave them a home, we noticed that she actually could open the eye, it was just mostly crusted over, so I spent a week or so cleaning it twice a day with wound wash (saline) and applying neosporin. Now it opens and closes just fine, no longer crusty, but it's cloudy. Is she blind in that eye? It seems she favors her other eye - looking around with her "good" eye when something catches her attention.

Yes, I would guess that she has scarring or a cataract from her eye infection. You might try giving some poultry vitamins in her water for a couple of weeks, every other day. I have a polish hen who was blinded with a peck to her eye, and although she gets around well finding food and traveling around the yard, she can get lost if she gets out of our gate, and the others sometimes peck her because she runs into them. She gets around fine and doesn't run into things, isn't very adventurous when the gals are out of the coop/run. She usually just goes off and does her own thing, or our other Ameraucana hangs out with her. I worry a little because the other Ameraucana ended up being a cockerel, so her "buddy" will be leaving us this afternoon. He seems to protect her and look out for her, so I hope the others accept her more once the other is gone. (If not, in 4 or 5 weeks we'll have another two ready for the coop, so maybe one of them will be her friend.

Would the poultry vitamins be ok for the whole flock (all 6+ weeks)? I'm unsure how to get just her to drink from a specific water. Thank you!
