My 4 1/2 month old drake got a nasty gash on the top of his head one evening a couple weeks ago, I kept him in a cage inside his flock's pen so he would be safe from being re-injured(and to keep him away from the mud). After a few days I let him rejoin the flock and his injury didn't get any worse. About a week ago his injury seemed to have gotten reopened and the only thing different was my older drakes hadn't been penned up. Last night it was bleeding again so I moved him inside to try and get it to heal up without any potential threats. I sprayed veteracyn on it and have been considering putting colloidal silver on it as well. I'm not able to take him to the vet but I don't want to put him back out with his flock with his wound so unhealed. He hasn't acted strangely and it hasn't affected him at all physically.

Would colloidal silver be good for this?
Is there anything else I should do?
