If your chicks stay clean you don't need to worry about cocci.
I just want to say that honestly, that isn't necessarily true. It depends on the amt of cocci in your soil. You can't keep chicks clean enough to prevent cocci, just impossible. It's a naturally occurring thing, really. Mine couldn't be cleaner if I ran around with a pooper scooper held under their little bums, but it doesn't matter. They get cocci anyway because my soil is loaded with it. Dont want anyone feeling unnecessarily guilty about that. Keep them as clean as possible, including waterers, but if there is an abundance of the oocycsts in the soil, as soon as they hit that, they are susceptible to coccidiosis.
