How about a thread for all of us who don't work in an office. I work in a cereal factory on the production lines and would be interested in hearing from others who work a less tradional job.

I'm in housekeeping at a country retreat.

I work in a packaging plant and make bubble wrap, foam sheeting, shipping envelopeswith bubble wrap inside, and packing peanuts. I find out when I get there what I'm making today.

Do you get free cereal? What do you do on the production line?

You can eat the stuff of the production line in the canteen, but after 10 years I don't. On the production line its the day to day running of the line, checking quality and some small engineering work like changing the machines to run on different sizes.

Cool!

Interesting...do you make just one kind of cereal there, or does a single factory
make several types?

If many types...which do you do the most of....like old style cereal, or newer types?

And most importantly...Have you ever met Mikey...the little boy on the commercials
that would eat anything?

*I believe that most jobs can be made interesting. Or boring. Depends on the person.

I work in a factory... we make electronic controls for almost all the big auto manufacturers.. and are building the drive train/batteries for the ford focus hybrid and electric. I can run a bunch of areas in the factory and am a designated floater.

I usually have two to three jobs going at once. Usually only get paid for one or two of them. I am a Mom first, then I am a dog trainer and I do caregiving for elderly people on the side.

I just lost my last patient, who had Parkinson's disease, a couple months ago. Since then I have been doing more dog training through my own company and just being a housewife too.

I am finally going to be working with other dog trainers at our county Humane Society. I volunteered there but seems now I will be making money doing classes, private lessons and the like. They may promote my company on their website, which is totally cool. I am really excited about this.

I have only worked in an office one time. I worked at a bill collection company. I had to wear a dress, skirt or very nice slacks every day -- I hated it. Part of my job was to fill in at lunch for the regular receptionist. Being a bill collection agency inherently made the people calling us very grumpy. I didn't do well at this job and I hung up on people accidently too -- that made them doubly angry when they'd call back. Oh boy..those are some days I never want to relive. Every day that was my hour of hell while I waited for the other girl to get back.

That was the only job I was ever fired from. LOL. I was fired due to really bad communication both on my part and their part. I was really happy not to have to go to work the next day though!!
