Hang a mirror and use pine shavings as bedding. Only heat part of the Brooder and show them where the feed and water is..

Thanks! I put their beaks in the food and water and they seem to have understood much more now and seem much happier

Is there brooder plate high enough? I have found that my brooder plate works best when I set one end higher than the other and place their food and water close to it.

Mine is a Brinsea one and can't really have it at an angle sadly. It's quite low at moment but they seem happier under it. Think the room not warm enough generally though as they're much more active and quieter now I've got an electric heater on near them too

Please excuse the mess this was all clean two hrs ago. They have the run of the brooder during the day for night I close off part so they have food water and heat plate all close by. View attachment 1755686 I waited two days before opening the entire brooder for them I wanted to make sure they could find food and water. They love running back an forth now.

You might want to remove the plate cover because ducklings love sitting on the top.

Yesterday I did 4 times but ya know puppy pee pads don’t grow in trees. I will add shavings once they are two weeks old.

Oh wow how many do you have in there? We've only done once a day so far (bit only 24 hours in )

@Miss Lydia @casportpony have either of you have one pip at the wrong end? Our 4th one has just externally pipped (36 hours after supposed hatch time) but at opposite end to air sac. Tiny hole, can't see beak position. Eekkkk not sure best thing to do!
