Should I build the coop in this picture (only bigger)?

Ok the usually formula I believe is 4 hens to one nest box. 8 should be adequate for 24 hens

Chickens hate being crowded. They act out by feather plucking, fighting and in some extreme cases, cannibalism. If your climate is such, that they would be kept inside for lengthy periods of time - they need LOTS of room

By all means post away when the desire strikes you, especially if you have questions (provide as much detail/info as possible and pictures truly help)... With all the great folks here, generally someone will respond in no time at all. Please make yourself at home!

Sorry if I'm a bit confused by some of the math above. Suffice it to say best practice states 4 square feet/bird inside the coop, 10 square feet/bird in the run, both as minimums. There's also a detailed thread strictly about coops. Lots and lots of pictures there to browse through. The next coop I'll build will be a Woods style coop.

Oh, if you haven't done so already, PLEASE put at least your general location in your profile. It could be very important if/when you ask for or offer help or advice. You know, climate issues and such. Old folks like me :old will never remember from this thread. To add it, mouse hover over Account top right and a drop down will appear.
