Noobie Tractor

Hello All I am new here been reading around and seen many tractor designs and have attempted LOL to make my own,
Now it is small and has a run and will probably let the chickens roam .. So I hope to post some pictures tomorrow the coop section is about 4' x 2' The top has hinges and will be secured from predators . The Run attached to the coop is 8' x 4' made from 2"x4" and 1" PVC bent hoop like and covered with poultry net. Now the issue I am having is trying to figure out how to make a door to the run LOL ..

Could you form a gate with PVC sprinkler pipe and cover it with wire mesh?

To be predator safe, you may also want to use welded wire as "chicken wire" keeps chickens in and can be torn though by dogs, coons, and other large animals. Not to mention that coons can reach through the wire and pull parts off your birds!

Nice looking chickens, too. Are they laying yet, or just youngsters? Coop looks good. Coons may be able to lift the lower edges & slip under unless you stake them down some way. I have had a heck of a coon problem lately, and have trapped 13 in the past couple months.

I can barely lift it with one hand let alone a coon LOL ok i am weak too

My kitty roams the yard so im not to worried thats y i have animals they all balance out in the end..

It is a nice coop and a good idea with the hoop run. However, chickenwire will not keep predators out. A coon can tear through it and can easily reach through the wire and grab a bird if the opportunity arises.

Is your yard surrounded by a dog/coyote proof fence ? They can also tear through chickenwire and are heavy enough to turn the tractor over to get to the birds.

I do not want to scare you, but many people have lost birds to predators when only using chickenwire.
