I've been researching this quite a bit because I was trying to decide what I wanted for Christmas this year. Personally, I think the Nook Color is not even close to the Kindle Fire, however the Nook Tablet was recently released and it looks like a true contender for the Fire. I forwarded the article to my husband (who's an engineer) and I'm letting him decide which one to get me. He loves to buy me gadgets as gifts and he actually understands that tech-speak!
 
IDK I really LOVE the nook color cause you can get a micro SD card slot and I just love the set up
