Last year and over the winter we had the same coyote come back every day around the same time (usually between 7 am- 8:30am) and it would sit in the desert in front of us waiting for us to let our chickens out. That coyote and the hawks managed to wipe out over half of our flock. I started leaving them in until after 9 am because after that time of day the coyote never came around til late at night but our chickens are always locked up at least a half hour before it gets dark usually earlier. Our turkey poults live indoors for now but they won't be outdoors until I can build a secure run for them. We have too many people around here that likes to shoot their rifles at anything that moves. The second day of January this year we had a rare snowfall and my daughter and I was out looking at the snow around 6:30 in the morning and a coyote was walking close to the housing area and it was chasing a bird then it spotted us and starting coming our way and I made my daughter get inside quickly and I was attempting to get in quickly and in our driveway came the coyote (the chickens wasn't out yet) and I started yelling at it like a crazy person and it left in a hurry.
You can bet that coyote will be back. I am so sorry about your turkeys.
