Owen's dad here,
Owen and his little brother Liam both entered chickens in the confirmation portion of this show. Owen also did showmanship and the knowledge quiz, both at the primary level. They only give participation awards at the primary level, but he did really well.
This show was huge, at least to us. My quess is 500+ birds.
Owen entered Little Blackie, a blue Ameraucana pullet . There were 7 other blues and at least 25 Ameraucanas. Little Blackie took Best Variety and Reserve Breed on the 4H side. In the open class, she took Best Variety and Reserve Champion AOSB class for Youth. Awesome!
Liam entered Elephant, a Buff Orpington pullet. There were fewer Orpingtons and only one other Buff. Elephant took Reserve Variety in 4h and Reserve variety and Reserve Breed in the Open class.
It was a long day, 10 hours until they allowed coop-out and 3+ hours of driving. The boys did great and we are very proud! We look forward to the next show.
