Normal feed for mature chickens

Hi

What feed be used for roosters and hen during winter? In the laying season its usually layer pellets for then hens, but what about other times.

Can wheat be used as the main part of a diet? nutritionaly its about 16% protein right, so would this be ok for fully grown chicken/roosters?

I feed mine layer feed year round, because my birds, for the most part, lay year round. I also mix in 1 bag of flock raiser to 2 bags of layer feed in the same bin, for the higher protein content, and increase the flock raiser when it's really cold, or when they are regrowing feathers after a moult.

Yes, wheat will be just fine.

I fed it to my chickens abunch last year and they did just fine on it.
