Normal Mandarin and White Mandarin BOYS? Need help.

if you find any suppliers for mandarins please let me know... I can't find anyone local with them at all.. heck.. I would be happy with hatching eggs if they don't cost an arm and a leg!

I wish I could find them for $20 a piece. These are my favorite birds ever! I have 7 regulars. I agree they both look like drakes.

Im thinking you have a female also. Put a raised box in there and if its a girl it will check it out eventually. If the previous owners said it never got the big sails on the wings thats a dead givaway its a girl. The whites are hard to tell apart unless the male has the head coloring or the sails or unless you know their vocalization. You can google their sounds.

The white one reminds me of a female, but I little experience with them. If they are both males and your worried bout fighting, you can use domestic ducks. I rescued two mandarin drakes years ago and paired them with call hens. I know you can't get anything out of that pairing, but they were both two happy boys!

My big number days are at a close as I get older and want fewer but rarer ones. I only have 3 pairs of regulars left as of now. Sold the apricots I had too and only one white pair. My white ones are in molt as are most of my ducks right now but the boy still has beige coloring on his head. And as Dr todd pointed out earlier they both have the red bills so you cant use that as an indicator. Good luck with your mandies either way. I will always keep 1 pair of each color as they were my first exotic ducks and will always be in the top ten beautiful waterfowl.

Well, during "Irene" they got out, flew away and later parts were found. Not nice at all and we were so upset. We went out last week and bought another pair each of normal Mandarins, Wood ducks, East Indies & Pintails. During the storm we were out trying to catch them but we had no chance.​
