Normal Places to Lay Eggs?

I think he used a pool net, and it was a shallow pond. He hated that part of the job, he said it was always stinky. I never got to see it, kid sisters were NOT encouraged to follow him around, lol.

Now the thing is, if they lay them in the water, do they need to be refrigerated instead of on the counter because of bacteria?

Seems like water alone wouldn’t wash off the bloom.

When I read the title of this thread I giggled. I thought to myself, a NORMAL place for ducks to lay eggs?! There isn’t any. They have no shame, just plop them wherever. And Pekins more so than other breeds. I can tell which one of my ducks is likely to go broody based on where they lay their eggs. If they always make a nest then lay in it, they are more likely to brood. If they plop them wherever they are walking, they don’t brood as often. It may just be a coincidence.

That makes sense. The khaki is making a nest when she lays and from what I have read she would be the one to sit on eggs, the Peking not so much.
