Normal poop?

I had a sick chicken over a month ago and I treated her, she seemed to be egg bound. Yesterday, I found her dead in the coop. She’d been fine. Today, another chicken leaves this poop, which I haven’t seen before. I’m worried I’ve missed something.

I would start this bird on a calcium supplement asap. Citracal +D or generic equivalent, any pharmacy should have. That appears to be a malformed and shell-less egg. The calcium will help with contractions to expel anything else, and help with shell quality. Aim for 600-800 mg once a day for a week or two, and see if things improve. What do you feed, including all treats, and do they have oyster shell available all the time in a separate feeder? How old is this bird and was she laying normally before this?

I feed Dumor crumble, oyster shell is always available. I do feed treats either organic store bought, occasional bread, and/or fruits & veggies. She is a 2 year old RIR who had been laying normally. We’ve had several super soft shelled eggs but couldn’t figure out who was laying them.

Some birds may need more, and glitches can occur. Too many treats can dilute nutrition, and some can inhibit calcium absorption. If it's a calcium deficiency, then once the levels are back to normal she may be able to maintain them herself. It happens. It's also possible there is a shell gland malfunction, but the calcium would be the first thing to try.
