Hi all,
I have a Barred Rock that got a wound which got infected. She is a very flighty bird and managed to hide it from me to the point that it got maggots in it. After reading through some other threads here i got the wound cleaned, removed all the maggots with tweezers, cut back the feathers, and applied antibiotic and anti-septic.
I also gave her a shot of norocillin in the breast muscle. I was going to give her another shot today but i inspected the first injection site and her breast is all a light blue color and does not look right. I am afraid i missed the muscle or something else. So i skipped the injection tonight and am not sure what to do.
She did seem to be improving today, which for her means being not as willing to let us clean her, but she did eat some also. I just don't wan't to do more harm than good with the norocillin.
Can anyone tell me what the injection site should look like after a shot of norocillin in the breast. Our girl is a Barred Rock and her skin on the other breast is a pinkish hue, whereas the injection site is powder blue.
Any help appreciated!
