Antibiotics sourcing

She's in a crate to limit movement. Her color is great. She's still bright eyed. She's eating when food is placed directly under her face. I don't think debridement is smart for me to do. But maybe I'm wrong. I was wrong about the doxy and that was my gut telling me to get that antibiotic over all others. SMH. We're both trying to not give up here.

My gut says there's an infection. Idk what kind. But the heat and swelling tell me it's more involved. I'm guessing since it was in the nail bed. My gut said to get her to a vet- not possible- then my gut said get antibiotics. I bought the "wrong" kind. I'm shooting in the dark. Starting to wonder if it's tendon or bone. She's standing on the foot that's has a plug that I started working on(very conservative) as I don't want to leave her footless. This hurts me more because I was a farrier for over a decade and I can't resolve this alone.

I will try to get new pix today. This is a progression from over a week- pre plug(top) removal (needed days of soaking to come out clean) and the bottom pictures are post removal a week later with continued treatment. She's also got a keel? Rub from laying down all the time.

I can appreciate your concerns and frustration with it foot not seeming to improve and the keel issue added to the mix. How old is the hen? Can you wrap some paddling and non stick gauze loosely around her to cushion the area?

I know it's not as bad as other things I've seen out there. This is all new to me. She's a "24" model. Just over a year. I'm guessing it's a body size with poor roost height that started this. Are you suggesting to wrap and pad the breast bone sore? Is that even what that is?? Thanks for getting back to me

…yes with the keel issue something to prevent that area becoming another source for a secondary infection site. I’m hoping being a young bird versus older she will be able to overcome this.

I'll see what I can do. I'll have to look around here and see how people wrap that location on a bird. That yellow tinge on her skin is infection or just how their bodies respond to injury?? I really don't know what I'm looking at.
