On another note, will you be offering any Christmas baskets this year?? I think it may make a great present for some northern relatives.

I sure will hun, I will do customer baskets and I just bought some gorgeous gold & red boxes with clear fronts and ribbon to do double jars in Christmas. The baskets you will be able to fill and we'll add recycled packing paper and shrink wrap those with Christmas cards. They'll all start being available on Black Friday. ;-)

Try this guy.

I am pretty sure he has blues. He always has a post in the Greensboro section of CL when he has chicks.
ETA: He is in Stokesdale.

Here is his latest CL ad for Ameracaunas. http://greensboro.craigslist.org/grd/2680077032.html I know he sells organic food and is NPIP certified. He has lots of other heritage breeds too so he may have the BCMs you want too.

I posted on the yahoo group Southern Poultry (it's the group for NC poultry owners as well as some of the neihboring states) to let Mike know I had passed his information on about the blue Ameracaunas and I got this reply from him.

"I have 6 blue Ameraucana hen/pullet left for sale & 3 splash pullets but the
rest is my breeding stock for next year & will NOT be sold! I have about 30
Ameraucana chicks & about the same amount of Buckeye pullet chicks that I'm
growing out for layer for next year! When the icubator finishes the hatch on the
22nd of Nov I'll stop until March 1st"

If you haven't gotten with him yet it is probably a good idea to do so if you want the hen now. I would love to have a blue and a splash Americauna myself, I just can't get DH to go to Stokesdale to get them.

Thanks Marlowmannor!

I actually went ahead and bought two blue pullets, but from Hodges Farm - their stock is from Pips&Peeps... they are shipping today!!! I'm sooooo nervous!!! I've never had birds shipped before...

I'm a nervous wreck...

I'll post photos of the girls when they arrive!!!

If we keep our chickens (DH has been talking about getting rid of them) I may be getting some hatching eggs from this guy or buying some chicks from him in the spring perhaps. I so want some true Ameracaunas!

Hubby said today's job interview went AWESOME (his word)!

They have one more interview on Thursday and will let him know who they chose on Friday. Only 2 interviewers they're choosing from, odd most of the resumes didn't meet their minimum requirements they asked for to apply!

He LOVES the companies morals, and of course the pay and benefits are very nice. I guess they go bowling on a business team regularly so he'd be thrilled to do that as well.

He deserves a good company who realizes he's a person and not a mule.

Anyways, I'm all excited and can barely share all this info on facebook as we know a lot of people unemployed and people keep asking how he's getting all these interviews and who's hiring... they all want the fax #s and email addresses to apply too. We'll be more then happy to share the one's he didn't get the job for of course, but we need to wait until someone picks him up first.

vfem, I'm very happy for you and your hubby! Fingers crossed!

Buttermilk Pie recipe
Add 3 slightly beaten eggs
1 cup sugar, and 2T flour.
Add 1/2 cup melted butter, mix well.
Add 1 C buttermilk and 1t vanilla.
Pour in 9" uncooked deep dish pie crust.
Bake for 45 minutes at 325.
Best served cool/cold.

Stupid me broke an egg in my pocket this morning.....I always make the dumbest choices when I'm exhausted from running EMS calls all night. LOL

I might have to find a new home for my Cuckoo Marans hen. She is quite a bully with my younger group.

I liked making the bread but 2.5hrs of kneading, rising, rising again, and baking. So I've been thinking about getting a bread machine but I was under the impression that you had to have a bread "packet" instead of putting the ingredients in. Sorry for the stupid question but will someone explain it to me. Thanks!

Suburbanchickymamma, what a cutie! I Can't wait for mine to arrive! Is yours laying yet?

Marlowmanor, my DH also threatened several times to get rid of the chickens, but he went ahead and just finished building them a chicken palace! Problem is, is haven't told him yet about the blue pullets!! Ouch... Just today he was saying we don't need more chicken's this year...

Vfem, keeping my fingers crossed!
