I will post the registration and contact details for the Morganton show next week in the Shows forum on here. I try to do it about 6 weeks before the show date. The Morganton winter show will be February 12 at the Burke County Fairgrounds which are at 145 Bost Rd, Morganton, NC.
I haven't talked to Brian yet, but we normally get the heated building for the Feb show. This is the building just above the livestock building.
I got out of the backyard today. Ran a few errands and picked up some starter. I then went by mom's work and tied some birthday ballons to her Escape.
Matt
Thanks for the update Matt. I'm ready, now just got to figure out how many we're bringing this time. (more not less)
I saw a high 39 today!!!!Conan and the crew had lots to tell me this morning. would love to share, but its hard to explain..I did get a request for Warm oats and raisins. Seems a lil bird told them about it???? Moms Chickens are doing great on the Duramycin. Chicpea even laid an Egg after I left yesterday, sadly it was frozen this morning. I'm really surprised at the amount of Eggs they are laying as cold as it is. My coop is Sealed tight compared to moms and with the heat lamp it still got down to 25. Burr, the life of a chicken.
What all happens at the Morganton show? Will we be snow free by then i wonder? I need some warm time to finish the outside of the coop and the run! Id like to also close under my coop for a Mother n Laws suite for some Silkies or Ducks.... oh what to do? Think the DW would really like the Silkies!!! Hope y'all enjoyed the day as much as I did!
Peace,
Story
Good to hear your mom's chickpea is doing good and even laid an egg. I know your relieved.Hopefully we'll all be able to get to the Morganton show in Feb. I am excited about it. We had 34 for a high today with no melting and grankids sledded down the driveway so it's packed down and icy so don't know if we'll get out tomorrow....
anyway have a good night, oh what breed of ducks are you getting Story? I have Muscovy. Are you getting Silkies from BC? I hope to also.
We actually hit 42 degrees today!!! What a relief; it gave me the opportunity to pull ALL the waterers, give them a good scrubbing, and refilled; also added more shavings to everybody's beds; even got 3 screen feeders "de-iced" so the wild birds could use them again.
The warmer temp created some awesome icicles on the barn and house; they're beautiful but dangerous.
The thought of all of you'll coming to the Morganton show makes it even more exciting!! Hope Matt's right, and they use the heated building. Half the fun of showing birds is having the opportunity to talk to other chicken enthusiasts.
Trish~~I know your grandkids are having a wonderful time sledding...I miss doing that; I'm too big a coward now---scared I'll break an old bone.
Greenskeeper---soooo glad your chicky is doing better!! and good to see you on the forum again
Hey BC not use to all the comotion so decided to take a little break, I know what you mean about sledding i am to much of a chicken too. But my dh is just like a big kid when it comes to things like that. Almost bed time for me any way. Haha Talk to ya'll tomorrow....Well here it is Wed, and I am the first to be here, Course I had to get up at 6:00 am ....
just wanted to say good morning and hope everyone has a great day. We are at 13 now, better than 7 yesterday eh? Looks like some pretty nice weather for the next few days..... Hey BC hope you come home with lots of Ribbons, take pictures please......
Chilly, but not windy this morning....have to confess~~I made the birds stay in their houses until 8:30 this morning....just couldn't face the cold.
Went through all my birds yesterday to see who's going to be sold, and who's going to be shown in Jefferson, GA on the 15th. I have alot more for sale than I originally thought. Getting hatching eggs together for my husband to take to a fellow BYC'er in Charlotte. All 5 of my brooders in the diningroom/hatchery are full, so I really shouldn't be hatching anymore---hate to just eat them or feed them back to the birds though.
Forecast is still looking good....maybe some of you snow-bound people will be able to get out and about.
Howdy Y'all! Just got back in from moms! 44 degrees and rising.
BC thank you SO MUCH
ChicPea is doing fantastic! No one else seems to show any sign of any thing other than Cabin fever. I opened there pop door just to see to day. lol. The one girl who touched the snow, was pushed by the flock. She had stopped stiff as the chill smacked her beak, and poof she was snow bound. She was fine and quickly plowed threw the mass of feathers clogging the door.
Conan has been exercising his voice since 5am. Good thing our bedroom is on the other end! in the summer his door should be opening for him automatically and I'm sure he will find my window! Cant wait...
Wife caught me stuffing Fresh spinach in my coat while i was cooking dinner last night. I only needed a little to complete the salad for this morning. Gosh! Conan was thrilled. It amazes me how he waits for his ladies to eat, b4 getting his portion. Moms Big Ben does the same! People can learn alot from these guys!
