Good Morning Coffee Cow~~Good Morning everyone
Made it through another night with no disasters....of course it sounded like hurricane force winds all night.....and they're continuing this morning. Sooo glad I wrapped all the outdoor runs in thick plastic and tarps.
Thats alot of snow for your area Coffee Cow...I think it was in 80' or 81' that theres was over a foot of snow there.
I hate to even go outside to feed and water everyone....

You'll have a good, warm, safe day

I put a 75w heat lamp ( a red one) just above the waterer that I keep in the coop. That helped a lot. The outside water still freezes, but at least I don't have to carry in 2 waterers to melt/refill them. I shut off the well so it wouldn't freeze, so I have to go inside to refill their water.

I really need to get one of those heater bases for the water... but I don't know if I can justify doing it in this area... maybe my heat light will be okay... it heats up the coop a little bit too, and I'm sure the chicks appreciate that

I'm still looking for someone near me with chickens. I want to find a home for my EE cockerel, and get a Delaware. my EE is nice, and I don't really want to see him in a freezer. I really love my pair of Delawares, and would like to hatch out some more.

from everything i have read on here... fertile eggs are a crap-shoot when mailed to you. I would rather go pick them up.

Beautiful Pics. Aayps, My dh measured 8" so you got more than us. It's so beautiful, good thing we don't have to go any where though. My chickens had warm oatmeal with raisins this morning and I don't think any have ventured out. Can you believe it's to get to 50 in these mts, later in the week? Can't wait. Ya'll have a good one.

Well here she is, the pride of our home! Here's ELLA, catching snowballs!

CLICK TO MAKE BIGGER!

Just couldn't resist! Pic was taken several years ago she is now 6 and has a lil sister Lizzy and our flock too! Here's to the Animals that provide us all with comfort, security, understanding, laughs, messes to clean up, and lessons in patience! You guys are awesome!

Had another Six eggs at moms today. She will be "Eggstatic" when she gets home. Chicpea seemed alert and oriented. She did still show bubbles on her eye. We shall see if the meds work. So far no other signs in the others!!!!!
Conan and the Crew are well. He is really starting to get LOUD! I love it! Hopefully in February I will begin getting eggs too! guess moms will do for now. lol

So~~how's everyone doing this morning??
Nate (my sick little roo) continues to improve; he's not content to stay in his crate anymore, he prefers to sleep on the carpet. I prefer him to stay in his crate, but he makes a mad dash when I open the door to give him food & water

I started putting his meds in squished vienna sausage, which works much better for BOTH of us.

Normally, we go through 40 lbs of BOSS + 40 lbs of wild bird food every 10 days (we have ALOT of feeders) In the past 2 weeks we've gone through twice as much---birdies can't find any other food. They're very entertaining to watch from the warmth of the den

Hope you'll have a good one

[stupid question] what is BOSS? [/stupid question]

I have seen a few people mention this, I can't for the life of me figure out what it stands for =/
