Hey!! I live in Ararat, also in Surry County, near Siloam Rd What kinds of chickens do you have??

I have a mixed flock of rocks, EE's and marans (and some mutts). In season we also raise meaties and turkeys. And a couple of pigs too. I sell at the Mount Airy and Elkin farmers markets!

Roosters in the house & back porch crowing at 4:15 AM.. Music to my ears.

Well not really.....that is a little early, we will have to talk about that.

VFem......yup the 19th, I wrote it on my calender. It should be a nice day, sunny & in the 60s per weather.com. I am sure that forecast will change every 15 minutes.

ANYWAY........ Sale as been good, place is packed & lots of boxes and good $. I will be there early ... 11-11:30 to get a good spot in the sale.

Who else plans to go? Beside MRL... we know she will be there.

Heinz57, I guess.... But he is beautiful..... Picture a chocolate chip cookie. Thus the name "Chip". He looks good, but on my back porch for quarantine. He has a healthy set of lungs.

I got 2 lavender orpington pullets at WCA yesterday

my fiance got the HUGE brooder box. We drove back to Wendell with several feet hanging out the back of the truck.

Congratulations Lav!! I sure wish I was following you somewhat home, for seeing feet hanging out the back of a truck would have been quite an entertaining experience!!

Good Monday Morning Everyone!! I am pumping myself up for the big processing class coming up this Thursday!! I am just hoping/praying that I can toughen up and not run away from the process screaming and crying like a big baby!!

I have my cookie sheets washed and ready to go, the butter and such are hanging outside the fridge getting softened - I mean no respectable lady would dream of having company over and not offer them tea and cookies, right?!? I must keep in touch with my Scottish roots somehow...even if I am only Scottish via marriage!! This weekend DH and I have been trying to choose which roo to send to freezer camp and he thinks the "dumb" one should go (why is he dumb? Because DH couldn't get him to follow him into the coop...I have no problems!! They know who gives them their treats!!). We also raked the entire 40x60 garden area and are planning on tilling again this week, raking again and then finally building the fence this weekend!! I raked a good portion of it, while he shoveled the grass (from the expanded area) into the tractor, then I was saved from the work by DD who woke up from her nap and didn't want to play outside where it was "cold". Needless to say DH finished and the chickens have some more dirt/grass in their run to fill in the dust bath holes they made and our woods has a nice pile of the stuff too. DH refused to shovel it all back INTO the compost, said he was only shoveling once. BOO!!
DD still has a cold, but is doing MUCH better...she has officially passed all of her germs to me!! BAH!! Hope everyone has a wonderful Monday morning...stay warm out there, it's been cold this weekend!! So cold & windy it actually blew (ripped) one of our doors off the coop and broke one of our feeders...the wind even almost knocked our arbor over onto DH's car!! Hope everyone survived the wind gusts and COLD temps. If it's that cold, I think it should at least snow...then it would be pretty if nothing else!!
For those of you following me...5 weeks until full term, 8 until due date!! Pretty soon, I might have to do a BYC poll - to see who can guess gender, day and time of the baby's arrival!! LOL I already know Wild is voting for 3/20!!

BHEP - we are waiting to see photos of this Chocolate Chip Rooster of yours!!
