North Carolina

Evening everyone! For your viewing pleasure, a few pics of the chocolate crew. They are growing good but soo slow to feather in, and if I look at them they think I am going to kill them.

IMHO The more you handle and just mess around with them (do feed & water or just look in) the easier they will be to be around (less flighty).
Just like puppies and kittens need handling and seeing people alot so do the chicks, if you want them tame.

So random question anyone now where I can get some live bamboo so I can block my neighbors behind me they built a garage apartment about 3' off my property line and I hate looking at it. Other then moving its the best I can think of especially since it can get it really tall.
thanks

Please do not plant live bamboo, unless you really want to be hayed by all of your neighbors.... It will put a runner system of shhots out underground that will appear in everyone's yard, and once there it is impossible to get rid of. Have you checked with code enforcement as in my county we are not allowed to build within 15' of the boundary line...

its grandfathered in its been there a long while. I was planning on digging a trench and lining it with 90 mil plastic they say that will contain runners for the most part. there is also clumping bamboo that will not send out runners.. I am a researching machine. But really I can touch the garage if i with out climbing the fence. short of putting up a 15' fence bamboo is the fastest fix

Good Saturday Morning Everyone!!

Praying the weather cooperates for us to get some more planting done this morning as well as a few things done around the yard!! I am anxious to get the duck "pond" in the ground and get the barn repainted - can only do those things IF the rain holds off...seems it did rain last night, so perhaps we will be in for a nice sunny day?!?

I am happy to report that a fellow BYC'er found a little 6 week old calico kitten for us to "rescue" from someone (they don't NEED rescuing, but at least this one will get a home inside and lots of love) so we will be meeting up with them this afternoon to pick her up and take her home. I am hoping for a good meeting between her and the "old" man of the house (my 13 yo DSH male)...he's long overdue for another girlfriend, just hope he goes for the really young kind!! LOL Needless to say, it should be interesting at the least!!

I still wouldn't do bamboo..... it is like crabgrass or bermuda, i have a friend who gets bamboo shoots come up in his lawn, the home with the bamboo is over 200' away...... i wpuld be extremely mad if i started getting bamboo runners in my yard - as you say "it will contain the runners for the most part......" Was it there when you purchased the home?
