I paid $12 each for my SFH. I ended up with 2 roosters and 11 hens.

so do you think $20 is reasonable?

Have 1 muscovy girl sitting on eggs due to hatch April 22nd. and a cochin bantam due to hatch April 9th. Happy Spring ya'll!!!
Spring is certainly here :D the dogs wood and iris are blooming and 2 of my oak trees already have leaves! I've 1 BO sitting on 12 blue silkie eggs and 1 silkie sitting on 4 silke & 2 MF d'uccle eggs! If my broodies keep this up I may not need to buy an incubator!

Sounds like you don't need to spend your money on a bator at all. I may have a chance to buy some MFd'uccle's this weekend do you have any now and what can you tell me about them? I saw on my pet chicken that they aren't cold hardy? Our red buds are blooming

We have a new brooder now!

We converted a changing table (I am talking about the size/type daycares use) into a brooder for our chicks. They just got double the space they had. I'll have to get the picture on later once I get it off my phone. The only thing we have to figure out is how to do the light in it. Best part is that if we want to use it for a changing table again later we can easily because there are very few modifications made. The kids love watching chick TV! My 1 year old has a blast sitting in front of the brooder watching the chicks! My oldest 2 sons are still asking about baby ducks. We have to contact our chick guy and find out if he still has any ducks available and what breeds they are. My sons are so smart they know where the farm is we got our chicks from and keep asking to go back! At least the guy is actually related to us (he is married to a cousin of mine) and very friendly. I'd hate them to be this attached to a strangers farm! Our chick guy also has peacocks, turkeys, geese, guineas, horses, goats, and rabbits on the farm. His son shows the chickens (at local fairs) and has done very well even though he has to show in the adult class. He has lots of 1st place birds.
